2 Kings 4:1-7
“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”
Sometimes our provision seems like nothing to us at all. Sometimes we discount the small thing that God is going to use to provide. It could be something as simple as cleaning supplies, or a mower, or it could be an instrument or a talent. It could be something even more simple than that, your time. Don’t discount the small things in your life because when God’s anointing comes on them they can provide for your living. In this story we see how the widow’s perspective was that she had “nothing” when she had something. The man of God focused on what she HAD and what would be necessary if it were to multiply. “Go get jars and don’t just get a few.” Those are the words of someone who has an expectation of something.
Even after all of that ,though, there is still the very practical step the widow had to take. She had to start a small business selling oil. She had to WORK.
Father help us not to discount the things You’ve given us, help us to walk in an expectation of multiplication and grow in us the discipline to work when it’s the time for it.
